Mr Foreman penned a most refreshing, yet down-to-earth insight into the sacred institution of marriage. He openly revealed from his own marriage the joys and sorrows that is universal to all marriages. My favorite quote ," marriage is not a contract, it is a commitment". Excellent read!!

I have read a lot of marriage books, but this is one of the best and most easily understood. Concise, yet full of helpful insights and tips to enhance the quality of your marriage and attitude towards this sacred institution.
Know your mate and enjoy marriage was very interesting and easy to read. It served up many facts that are absent or missing in today's courtship and dating leading up to marriage. One important fact that I personally supported was preparing your own garden before admiring other without knowing how much work was placed in their relationship. The book covers most areas of importance on relationship and how to know and understand love when compared with infatuation also how to understand your own self and your spouse. It highlighted that the two are different and that either one has to learn how to compromise in the relationship. The information was supported with quotations from the KJV Bible, some level of research and personal experiences of the writer.
The presentation of the book was excellent. To be a little critical, in my opinion I think the writer could use some more practical and statistical examples from research data and less of himself and his own experiences, such as the reason for the high rate of divorce in many countries and separations of relationships due to misconceived perception or the coming together for the wrong reasons. At one point in time, to me it sounded more like a biography.
Without elaborating too much I would recommend this book to what we call 'now-a-days couples' because the main ingredients of love, patients, understanding and forgiveness are missing. It is easy to love the outward appearance and hate the real person inside.
These are my reasons for the rating.
The author seems sincere and I appreciate his Christian foundation. However, this book is filled with grammar and punctuation errors. It came across as unprofessional. It is one man's journey into marriage and how he learned from his mistakes. It was not helpful to me.
